Membership Covenant
Having received Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior, having been baptized by immersion, and having accepted the Bible alone as the standard by which all matters of belief and conduct are to be decided, I, being led by the Holy Spirit to unite with the fellowship of Living Way Community Church, commit myself to God and to the other members of this church, and will faithfully do the following:
A. I Will Protect The Unity Of My Church
1. By acting in love toward other members
2. By refusing to gossip
3. By following and praying for its leaders
1 Corinthians 1:10 Now, dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you by the authority of the Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so there won't be divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose.
Ephesians 4:29 Don't use foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.
Hebrews 13:17 Obey your spiritual leaders and do what they say. Their work is to watch over your souls, and they know they are accountable to God. Give them reason to do this joyfully and not with sorrow. That would certainly not be for your benefit.
B. I Will Share The Responsibility Of My Church
1. By praying for its growth
2. By inviting the unchurched to attend
3. By warmly welcoming those who visit
Colossians 1:3 We always pray for you, and we give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…
Luke 14:23 So his master said, 'Go out into the country lanes and behind the hedges and urge anyone you find to come, so that the house will be full.
Romans 15:7 So accept each other just as Christ has accepted you; then God will be glorified.
C. I Will Serve The Ministry Of My Church
1. By discovering my spiritual gifts and talents
2. By being equipped to minister by my Pastors
3. By developing a servants heart
1 Peter 4:10 God has given gifts to each of you from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Manage them well so that God's generosity can flow through you.
Ephesians 4:11-12 He is the one who gave these gifts to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. [12] Their responsibility is to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ,
Philippians 2:3-7 Don't be selfish; don't live to make a good impression on others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourself. [4] Don't think only about your own affairs, but be interested in others, too, and what they are doing…He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form.
D. I Will Support The Testimony Of My Church
1. By attending faithfully
2. By living a holy life
3. By being faithful in my giving
Hebrews 10:24-25 Think of ways to encourage one another to outbursts of love and good deeds. [25] And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage and warn each other, especially now that the day of his coming back again is drawing near.
Titus 2:11-13 For the grace of God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people. [12] And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control, right conduct, and devotion to God, [13] while we look forward to that wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, will be revealed.
1 Corinthians 16:1-2 Now about the money being collected for the Christians in Jerusalem: You should follow the same procedures I gave to the churches in Galatia. [2] On every Lord's Day, each of you should put aside some amount of money in relation to what you have earned and save it for this offering. Don't wait until I get there and then try to collect it all at once.
